What are the exams?
They are

NZFBI was formed in 1931, and exams in this format have run since 1952

A series of firefighting related topics that give relevant qualifications

Improve skills, knowledge and ability as a firefighter

Opportunity to learn & earn a qualification

Assist in upskilling to be able to get a promotion

Post nominal lettering

$250 grant from FENZ for UFBA members for each of the Associate, Member and Fellow diplomas

How to do them

They run twice a year in April and September

Any firefighter or member of the public can sit the IFE exams

What do I need to do to get each diploma?
Associate Diploma
Post Nominal Letters ANZFBI
1. 2 hour multiple choice exam
2. 2 hour Associate exam
3. Write an online quiz
4. Attend a field day

Member Diploma
Post Nominal Letters MNZFBI, able to apply to be on the NZFBI Council
5. Three hour exam
6. Hold the minimum of a Crew Leader position or QFF rank
7. Create and assist running a field day
Fellow Diploma
Post Nominal Letters FNZFBI
8. Develop a project that will benefit firefighters
9. Present a project that will benefit firefighters​
